UPDATED: JUNE 2018 MILWAUKEE RESOURCE GUIDE FOR PEOPLE IN NEED AND THE HOMELESS

Resources for God's children

Food Pantries, Meal Sites, Warming Rooms,

God’s desire for His children is not that we travel this journey alone, but that we grow together, edifying each other. Believers are called to minister to one another and do so by reminding each other about the Savior and the great things He has done.

Some of you may have been a part of a “church” and still are or have left the organized church for various reasons.

A community of believers? A place of peace and meditation? The one true way? A social support? An important tradition? No one answer will guide your course. Your faith, your family traditions, and your present needs will all affect how YOU define "church". Whether you already have a firm belief in God, or still long to know if there is meaning and purpose to life, these steps can be your guide.

 Finding a place to serve!

Hebrews 10:23-25 teaches, “Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful; and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.”

Resources

Celebrate Recovery

Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered, 12 step recovery program for anyone struggling with hurt, pain or addiction of any kind.
Celebrate Recovery is a safe place to find community and freedom from the issues that are controlling our life.

Adult-Teen Challenge

The Mission of Adult & Teen Challenge of Wisconsin

God wants us to know freedom from addiction and destructive behavior. While this world promises freedom outside of God’s established boundaries, the road leads to entrapment and a life out of control.
Adult & Teen Challenge is a Christian Discipleship program for persons with life controlling addictions, such as drugs and alcohol. Our ultimate goal is to bring a person into a right relationship with the Lord so they may live responsibly.

Our Culture

Adult & Teen Challenge of Wisconsin creates an environment where people can experience God. Viewing life through God’s lens is where recovery begins. Our participants learn to establish new boundaries and enjoy the freedom that comes from living within them.
Facing our fears, failures, and disappointments is painful, but it is necessary to open our hearts to clarity and order. We begin to assume responsibility for our thoughts, choices, who we call friends, where we go, how we treat others, and how we react to situations.

Grief Share

It hurts to lose someone. Find help at Grief Share.

GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone.

Find a group near you

Thousands of groups meet weekly around the world. Visit or join a group at anytime. And attend as many meetings as you like.

  Exploit No More: Mission

Five years ago, we made it our mission to end child sex trafficking in the Greater Milwaukee Region.

Exploit No More is dedicated to ending child sex trafficking in the Greater Milwaukee region. ENM works with private, public, and other non-profit community organizations dedicated to serving youth and eradicating child sex trafficking.

The Salvation Army: Feed the Kids

Feed The Kids is a summer meal program designed to meet the needs of hungry children in Milwaukee’s poorest neighborhoods by providing them a nutritious meal during the summer months.

The Salvation Army vans bring lunches to neighborhoods, parks and street corners serving more than 1,300 lunches a day, Monday - Friday, for 10 weeks each summer. Meals served during the Feed the Kids program are prepared by teams of volunteers.

Three ministry teams stop at 24 distribution sites providing lunches while building personal and community relationships. We see the same faces day after day and get to know the children. Many share that the lunch we provide is the only meal they have. Since 1990, volunteers have made over two million meals that have been delivered to hungry kids.

The Salvation Army Feed The Kids program works together with other community agencies to address the causes of hunger and to provide nutritious meals to hungry children who would otherwise go without.

If you work with the Homeless or others in Milwaukee you can make copies of this database for your use! Blessings!

Faith calls us out of our comfort zone...to learn new skills and minister in new ways

" Faith calls us out of our comfort zone…to learn new skills and minister in different ways.” But we get uptight. We think, “What if God asks me to do something I can’t do? Or I don’t have the strength, wisdom, or faith?” If you were relying on your own resources, you’d be in trouble. But the fact is, “God…knew you and chose you” (1Pe 1:2 NLT). Every time you meet a new challenge He strengthens you by proving that He not only supplies the tools, but is responsible for the outcome."

Bob Gass Daily Devotion:

"The Bible tells us that we are not to store up treasure on earth but that we are to secure our treasure in heaven (see Matthew 6:19-20). So many times we can get caught up in what we think God forbids us to  have, seeing God as some kind of cosmic killjoy who wants us to go without, when the reality is that He desire for us to prioritize our lives in sch a way that we may have eternal significance."

Zig Ziglar: Daily Insights. Sept 2.

Pray, Plan, Prioritze ...then delegate!

But don't get hung up on planning...and endless meetings. The LORD can intervene at any moment and you can change direction! Keep your ears open to the Holy Spirit!

A good plan for beginning each day:. If you have someone to delegate to!

Importance of having a good "Team". But remember, there is no I in team!

Nothing of any eternal significance gets done without collaboration of other people and organizations!

Importance of having the right people on your team, the wrong people off your team, and the members of your team occupying the right seats! Good advice from Good to Great And The Social Sectors book by Jim Collins .     Why Business Thinking Is Not The Answer

Review of Good to Great In The Social Sectors

A few notes on "Planning" from the book of Proverbs:

"For a man's ways are in full view of the LORD, and he examines all his paths." Proverbs 5:21

"Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed." Proverbs 16:3

"In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps." Proverbs 16:9

"Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD'S purpose that prevails." Proverbs 19:21

"The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty." Proverbs 21:5

"Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth." Proverbs 27:1

We have to remember that these are observations...reality, not promises from the Bible. Our actions have consequences.

"May our LORD Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word." 2nd Thessalonians 2:16-17

Final thought and word:
"Now may the LORD of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The LORD be with all of you." 2n Thessalonians 3:16

If you don't have that peace, look no further!
Finding peace with God!

World Ag Expo Pictures: 1968

A few pictures of the 1968 World Ag Expo held in Tulare, California.

Purpose for my trip in February was to see the latest lettuce planting & growing machinery.

After attending the show...for the next week or so I toured all the vegetable growing areas from Salinas South to San Diego. About 2000 plus miles on my rented car.

World Ag Expo is the largest outdoor agricultural exposition. Each year it is held at the International Agri-Center in Tulare, California, in the United States during the second week of February. It has officially been designated by the U.S. Department of Commerce as an affiliate of the Foreign Buyer Program, which encourages exportation of American made goods. Prior to its 2001 rename, the event was titled "California Farm Equipment Show and International Exposition."

The show started in 1968 and was attended by 28,000 people. It outgrew its original home and moved to its current permanent location, the International Agri-Center, in 1982 where it occupies 2.6 million square feet.
